FOR FROSHIES:

Finally, first term’s coming to an end! I’m guessing most of the readers here are coming from 2011 Frosh community since they are the ones wanting to know more about our school.

Okay, here’s the thing: Don’t get too excited that the term’s coming to an end. It’s not something to be happy about. Why?

I’ll give you some reasons why:

  1. Professors will start bombarding you with papers and stuff for completion.
  2. Lessons will be given to you at a REALLY FAST PACE.
  3. Percentage that can be acquired are getting smaller, so it means chances of passing gets smaller and smaller as it approaches finals week.
  4. Professors’ method of teaching and lessons become harder and harder to understand.
  5. On line enrolment’s approaching. And well, I guess everyone knows what a bitch our server is.

On the positive side, you get to experience our infamous “term break” or better known as “enrolment week”. LOL. You’ll have I guess 1 week and a half to catch up on sleep for the sleepless nights you’ve had during the first term and you get to go out with friends!

Anyway, I can give you tips on how to survive your first year in Mapua:

  1. You can get some OTs from higher batches, that is if you have friends or connections whatsoever. (this isn’t a cheat sheet you memorize, okay guys? this is what you call a reviewer because most of professors that make the departmentalized exams recycle questions using the same approach and ideas but different values and!! if you’re lucky enough, you may also get solutions so you’d understand and be able to practice more for the upcoming exam)
  2. If you’ve failed most of your quizzes, it’s time to bounce back and let your professors know you’re not in for a 5. Bounce back! Don’t lose hope.
  3. NEVER PUT IN MIND THAT THERE’LL ALWAYS BE A NEXT TERM FOR YOU TO TAKE UP YOUR FAILED SUBJECTS. MAPUA STUDENTS ARE NO MORE IMMORTAL. 4 FAILURES AND YOU’RE OUT OF YOUR PROGRAM. So you better give the best you can!
  4. If you’ve been a couch potato for the last 8 weeks, it’s about time you realize this isn’t high school anymore. If your studying habits aren’t doing you any good, it’s time to change and study harder! Catching up in a quarter system is really hard. So make the most out of your last days as a freshman in your first term!
  5. DO NOT CRAM IN REVIEWING. Do not underestimate the capacity of your professors. He/she might look nice and kind in giving out grades but believe me, you haven’t seen the rest of it!

Anyway, this is the best advice I can give you:

If you’re studying really hard, slack off a little. If you’re not studying at all, study a little. If you’re enjoying too much, step on the ground once in a while. If you’re grounded on earth for too long, live a little. You can never relive days that have past already. If you’ve failed yesterday, bounce back today so that you won’t worry much about tomorrow.

ENJOY YOUR LAST WEEKS FOR THE FIRST TERM, FROSHIES! :D
